We are stoked to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2020 Autumn!! This is a great event, that sees teams of 2 drive 'shitboxes' through the Australia outback to raise money for Cancer Council! We will be driving our shitbox from from Alice Springs to Gold Coast via the Gulf of Carpentaria.
We are team CallaHart and are uber proud to be fundraising for Cancer Council is such a unique way.
As most of my friends and family would know, Liz's family history with this hideous disease makes us an extremely passionate team about fundraising and spreading the word.
Liz is extremely passionate about Cancer Council NSW having volunteered on Relay for Life events for close to 10 years. This is because of her family history with this disease... Her Nan has battled breast cancer and numerous melanoma's, her Aunty has also battled breast cancer, and her beautiful Mum has also battled breast cancer. Fortunately for Liz and the Hart family, all 3 of these incredible women have came out of top and won the battle! But so many people are not as lucky...
Liz's chances of getting breast cancer and/or ovarian cancer are quite high given the family history. Couple this with an absolute passion to beat this disease with research one day, and here we are! Giving this a red hot go.
We would love if our families and friends could jump on board and support this crazy adventure through the outback! Help us fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, and maybe even for the services, advice and help we might personally need in the future.
Let's do this team CallaHart!
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
Almost $20 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
